FC Barcelona announced this morning that they have reached an agreement to renew goalkeeper Gemma Font’s contract for one more season, until June 30, 2025. Font, who wears the number 25 jersey, has been with the first team for five seasons, during which she has played 26 matches and conceded just eleven goals.

Gemma Font will continue to be part of Barça’s goalkeeping team next season, alongside Cata Coll and, as previously reported by SPORT, Ellie Roebuck, who will join from Manchester City this summer on a free transfer. Roebuck is set to replace Sandra Paños, who is leaving the club after nine years.

Upon signing her new contract, Font expressed her satisfaction: “It’s an honor to represent the local players. I’ve been here for many years, and winning titles with Barcelona is on another level. At the end of this season, we’ll aim to do what we know best, playing well and showcasing our football,” she explained.

Gemma Font, a native of Tagamanent, made her debut with Barça’s first team during the 2018-19 season in the Copa Catalunya. In the 2019-20 season, she also played a match in the Copa Catalunya. Her debuts in La Liga and the Champions League came in the 2020-21 season, where she played four league matches and one Champions League match.

In the 2021-22 season, Font played a total of six league matches. Last season was her busiest, with eleven appearances: eight in the league, two in the Champions League, and one in the Copa de la Reina. This season, she has played one Champions League match against Benfica and one Copa de la Reina match against Albacete.
